Glue traps can also be known as “glue boards, “sticky boards” or “sticky traps”. They are supposed to be a method of dealing with rodent problems. Some people do not even realise they are not humane. They are just trays of plastic, wood or other similar material with an incredibly strong glue.
They do not just catch rodents, they can catch birds and even pets.
Once the animal has been stuck, they begin to panic and struggle to break free. But sadly in doing so they make themselves more stuck.
In desperation to break free, mice and rats have been known to break bones and even eat their own limbs off.
After only three to five hours has passed trapped animals have been found exhausted and covered in their own faeces and urine. A majority of animals die within the first 24 hours from starvation, dehydration, exhaustion, or even suffocation – caused by the glue blocking their nasal passages.
However, many continue to suffer for long a long period afterwards.
In some cases, the traps are never checked, leaving the animal to suffer for days.
In some cases, people check on the traps and if they’re still alive then proceed to try kill them themselves. Often using inhumane, painful methods.
It has been known for people to just dump the trap in the bin with the animal still alive, causing more agony for the animal.
Glue traps are currently legal to use for rats and mice and are openly available to everyone.
A YouGov poll carried out on behalf of the Humane Society International UK in June, 2015 found 68 percent of those questioned felt that the use of glue traps should be banned. So let’s ban them for forever!

Name and address of the store where the traps are being sold (include postcode where possible).
The manager or owner of the store concerned (if known) and the address if different to above.
The date you saw the traps on sale.
