Durante los últimos tres años, una banda de tres hermanos ha estado torturando y matando animales y amenazando a niños en la comunidad de Santa Anita Huiloac, Tlaxcala. Los vecinos de la comunidad han atestiguado múltiples actos de violencia; una fue el degollamiento de un perro, llevado a cabo enfrente de un niño a quien amenazaban: “así te vas a morir”. Las últimas víctimas han sido dos perras, una que golpearon hasta sacarle las crias del vientre y otra a la cual le amarraron un alambre de acero en la parte posterior del cuerpo, dejándole una lesión severa.
El hecho de que un niño o un adolescente maltrate a un perro o a otro animal no siempre debe considerarse como una simple travesura, sin más trascendencia. El 46% de los asesinos en serie fueron maltratadores de animales durante su adolescencia, según un estudio de el FBI.
Múltiples investigaciones no solo han revelado la vinculación existente entre violencia interpersonal y animal, sino que establecen la importancia de considerar el maltrato animal como una cuestión de seguridad ciudadana. En maltratadores y asesinos de animales, la posibilidad de repetir conductas violentas hacia víctimas humanas se multiplica considerablemente.
Exigimos que se proceda a detener a los menores de edad y se apliquen los protocolos legales correspondientes. Establezcamos un precedente para el estado; éste tipo de comportamiento no puede quedar impune.
For the last three years, a group of three underage brothers have been torturing and killing animals and threatening children in the community of Santa Anita Huiloac, Tlaxcala. The neighborhood’s residents have witnessed several acts of violence; one of the most notorious was forcing a child to watch as they cut a dog’s head off while threatening him: “this is how you’re going to die”. The last victims have been two female dogs; one was beaten in the stomach until her puppies were aborted, another had a wire tied around her rear end, causing severe lesions in her stomach area.
The fact that a child or teenager abuses a dog or any other animal cannot simply be considered as an act of mischief. According to the FBI, 46% of serial killers abused animals during their teenage years.
Research has shown that not only is there a link between interpersonal violence and violence toward animals, but it also establishes the importance of considering animal abuse as an issue of security for everyone. Among people who abuse and torture animals, the probability of them repeating this behavior toward humans increases considerably.
We demand that these minors be stopped and that the corresponding legal protocols be applied. We need to establish a precedent for the state: that this kind of behavior will not go by ignored and unpunished.
