Petition to Stop the Capture of 80 Wild Dolphins from the Waters of Panama

The capture of 80 wild dolphins from Panama's waters by Ocean Embassy Panama, an entertainment facility, will be seen as an environmental crime drawing profound international criticism.

There is no kind or easy way to capture a dolphin. It has been documented that the capture process for just one dolphin can lead to the death of 20 others. The depletion of wild dolphin pods in Panama's waters will damage the ecology, and threaten the population's existence. Putting dolphins in hotel tanks and entertainment pools leads to an early, stressful death, and shames those who participate in it.

We therefore urge Presidencia Torrijos of Panama to deny any permits to Ocean Embassy or any other entertainment facility authorizing wild dolphin captures from Panama's waters.
