BELMAR DOG PARK, a much needed resource!

As the official downtown of Lakewood, Belmar has become a great place to live, work and play. With more than 6,000 people and their pets living within walking distance of Belmar, it is time to make the area exceptional. The Belmar community needs an off-leash park to continue to foster and expand the sense of community that has developed over the past ten years and to continue to progress into the future.

There are many benefits to having off-leash areas:

-Off-leash dog parks enhance the SOCIALIZATION of a city.

-Dog guardians and their pets create an atmosphere of SAFETY in our public spaces.

-Off-leash dog parks create a COMMUNITY center of activity where friends and neighbors gather to relax.

-Off-leash dog parks are a more efficient and less costly method of EDUCATING pet-owners.

-Off-leash dog parks ease the burden on animal control by DECREASING the number of violations.
