We, the undersigned concerned citizens and voters, call on Hillary Clinton to unequivocally state her support for Senator Barack Obama and the Democratic ticket, at the Democratic convention, by:
1. firmly telling her PUMA supporters, and others, to NOT place her name
for a roll-call vote at the convention. Since this is now moot, we can
still register our discontent, and request that she immediately
hand-off any delegates to Obama.
2. asking for any pro-Hillary demonstrations to be called off, or to turn
their demonstrations into pro-Democrats for 2008.
3. use strong, unequivocal language in her convention speech in
support of Senator Obama as the right leader we need at this
moment in time including an emphasis on his foreign policy judgment.
We, the undersigned, are voters who have been disappointed by partisan politics and insipid leaders in the past, but have become re-energized and inspired by Barack Obama's candidacy. We are among millions of others committed to electing Senator Obama as the next President of the United States, and despite what the media portrays, we are joined by our family, friends, and other members of our communities who voted for you in the primaries and caucuses.
Much attention is being given to a small but vocal cadre of your supporters who refuse to support Senator Obama, and are so enraged by his nomination that they now seek to disrupt the upcoming Democratic National Convention by placing your name in the roll-call vote, by threatening protests, and by denouncing Senator Obama. We know from our own experiences that this group comprises a small fraction of those who voted for you, yet the media loves to exploit the perception of a fractious, embattled Democratic Party. Your recent encouragement of divisive antics, characterized as "catharsis," together with President Clinton's unwillingness to say that Senator Obama is ready to be President, provide ample fuel to the fire. With our country mired in two wars and an economic recession, we are disillusioned and disgusted by politics that thrive on personal ego and ambition at the cost of the good of the country.
We call on you to immediately and unequivocally support Senator Obama's campaign, and declare that he is ready to be our next commander-in-chief. We also call on you to stop your efforts to have your name placed in nomination at the Convention and encourage your supporters to actively support Senator Obama rather than engage in destructive antics. When you endorsed Senator Obama in June, you gave a powerful and impassioned speech that reminded us all of how much you and President Clinton have done for the Democratic Party and our country. We call on you now to put us first, and do your part to unite the party and help us win the White House in November.
