On June 30, 2010 Julian Collender, 25, unarmed, was shot and killed by the Brea Police with a high power assault rifle in front of his residence in Yorba Linda.
Urge the Orange County District Attorney's Office to conduct an accurate, comprehensive and unbiased investigation into the killing of Julian Collender by the Brea Police and, as justice requires, to prosecute the officer-shooter to the fullest extent of the law.
The police were acting in response to an unsubstantiated police report made 50 minutes before Julian was shot, multiple units were already deployed and surveilling his parents' house where he lived when he arrived home at 12:25 am. He was unarmed. Julian was shot in the stomach with a high power assault rifle within seconds of getting pulled over in front of his home.
The BPD has failed to release any substantive information regarding the shooting. They are withholding information under the guise of an ongoing investigation. In light of this, the BPD reports that the officer-shooter, whose name has not been released, was merely put on a three-day administrative leave. We can only assume that he has been reinstated to duty. The shooting is currently under investigation by the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
