Beef up security at campuses, malls, stadiums, and public transportation systems

We must do more to prevent murderous rampages like Columbine, Virgina Tech, and most recently Northern Illinois University. We also live under the threat of terrorism on American soil. Despite these threats, little has changed since 9/11 or Virginia Tech to make public spaces more secure.
We want to emphasize to our security officials and and public servants that our own safety is our highest priority. Counter-terror statistics from Israel suggest demonstrate that it is highly effectve to increase security at campuses, malls, stadiums, and public transport. We therefore urge the installment of security devices, such as metal detectors, and/or security guards, at the entranceways of such public places. Said security guards would not necessarily be armed, but would wield magnetic wands to scan for weapons and would be specially trained to identify and physically intercept intruders. We further encourage our American policymakers and security officials to communicate closely with their Israeli counterparts. Such cooperation will improve security here and minimize inconvenience to the American public.
A secure and safe society can be built without creating a police state. Let's do it now, before it's too late!

We want to remind our elected representatives and public servants that our own safety is our highest priority. Counter-terror experience in Israel suggests that a very important step is to beef up security at campuses, malls, stadiums, and public transport. We therefore encourage the creation of publicly-funded security guard jobs in crowded public spaces all across America. These jobs can be funded jointly at the federal, state, and city level.
