Contact the Denver City Council and Mayor Johnston and tell them to Support HB13 and Allow More Housing Near Transit and City Centers!

Colorado is in a housing crisis — 95% of Coloradans believe the cost of renting or buying a home is a problem. Young adults can't afford rent, families can't afford to buy a home, and seniors are getting pushed out. 
House Bill 1313 will help our communities build more housing near transit and jobs, bring down housing costs, and create more livable, walkable communities so the people we care about can afford to still live here.

Write to the City Council and Mayor Johnston and ask them to support HB-1313, which is a comprehensive solution to the housing and climate crises that cuts through barriers to build more affordable homes near transit, empowers local governments to meet community housing needs, provides financial incentives for housing initiatives, and protects Coloradans from displacement. This bill will conserve resources, improve air quality, and protect vulnerable communities from pollution-related health issues by prioritizing compact, transit-oriented development, reducing household driving and greenhouse gas emissions, and protecting Colorado's environment.

Dear City Council Members and Mayor Johnston, 

Please vote support House Bill 1313 to build more housing near transit and city centers.

Colorado is in a housing crisis — 95% of Coloradans believe the cost of renting or buying a home is a problem. Young adults can't afford rent, families can't afford to buy a home, and seniors are getting pushed out. HB 1313 will help our communities build more housing near transit and jobs, bring down housing costs, and create more livable, walkable communities so the people we care about can afford to still live here. 

68% of Coloradans support a state law requiring cities and counties to allow more housing to be built near bus stops, train stations, and business and shopping districts and providing financial assistance to cities and counties for these projects. You can remove burdensome barriers to encourage building more affordable homes near transit, empowers local governments to meet the housing needs of their communities, rewards financial assistance to cities and counties that allow for more housing, and helps residents stay in their communities. It increases affordability and mitigates the risk of displacing Coloradans by outlining strategies that preserve affordability and supporting municipalities that implement displacement mitigation strategies.

This bill will conserve resources, improve air quality, and protect vulnerable communities from pollution-related health issues. By prioritizing efficient and affordable housing near transit, workplaces, and city and town centers, this bill will promote compact, transit-oriented development, reduce household driving and greenhouse gas emissions, and protect Colorado's environment. 

HB 1313 offers a comprehensive solution to the housing and climate crises by cutting through barriers to build more affordable homes near transit, empowering local governments to meet community housing needs, providing financial incentives for housing initiatives, and protecting Coloradans from displacement.
