There's a bird flu crisis unfolding across the country and Donald Trump has frozen all communications from the National Institutes of Health, creating chaos and major disruption at a critical time.

U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin and Senators Chris Van Hollen and Angela Alsobrooks have issued a sharply worded letter to the acting head of NIH, demanding the restrictions be lifted immediately and allowing the nonpartisan work of medical research to continue.

The letter demands that the Department of Health and Human Services "immediately and completely restore operations at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to prevent further research disruptions. The lawmakers stressed that the immediate restoration of agency operations will ensure that NIH can continue to fulfill its mission of advancing lifesaving, world-class medical research for the American people."

Americans need to know that the NIH is operating at full capacity, and is being transparent and honest with the public about the health crises currently unfolding in multiple states.
