Five states are pushing to pass "ag gag" bills, which would punish animal rights activists, whistleblowers, and people in similar positions who use undercover tactics to show the horrifying conditions of factory farms to the public. In the past, these investigations have shown factory farms committing terrifying abuse to animals and maintaining unsanitary and dangerous conditions. In some cases, they have led to new, much needed laws.
Unfortunately, the meat lobby has an intense amount of power, leading to factory farms not being regulated properly. The EPA even gave up trying to get them to give basic information such as number of animals and manure as well as location.
If these laws pass, Americans won't be able to find out where 99% of their meat comes from. Please tell the EPA to stop "ag gag" laws across the United States!
Dear EPA,
There are several states trying to pass "ag gag" laws, which would make it impossible for anyone to see the real conditions of factory farms and similar institutions, as it would make taking pictures or videos inside of them illegal.
Investigations into factory farms have often revealed horrifying conditions and have led to laws that were badly needed. However, the meat lobby has so much power that you all even gave up trying to get the number of animals and amount of manure as well as location out of these factory farms.
Please stand up for animals and for the health of American citizens by stopping these "ag gag" laws across the United States! Thank you for your time.
