Davide Vannoni is Injecting CHILDREN with SCAM Stem Cells for Money. LET'S STOP HIM!

This petition is aimed at ALL OF US who care about justice in the world, scientists and non-scientists alike. The time has come to step up against the criminal actions of Davide Vannoni and his scam company, Stamina Foundation, Italy.  Please read below.

Throughout the past six years Davide Vannoni has exploited the desperation and hope of families with children affected by rare and presently incurable neurological diseases (eg.: motor neuron disease) to his own personal gain.

Davide Vannoni and Stamina Foundation are aggressively promoting a scam therapy, the “Stamina Method”, promising miraculous improvement and even cure to those who are in most desperate need of a glimpse of hope, in return for money. THIS IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY.

Davide Vannoni and Stamina Foundation claim their therapy is scientific and effective, therefore demanding the method to be funded publicly, averting taxpayer’s money from REAL scientific research. Here are 4 (selected) reasons why Vannoni is an outright liar:

1. Stamina Foundation has NEVER followed the modernly accepted scientific pathway for developing a new therapy e.g.: molecular/ in vitro studies -> studies on model organisms -> phase I to III clinical trials. Instead, he is demanding public funding to directly experiment his treatment on children.

2. Vannoni has NEVER published a SINGLE study on his method nor a single protocol. Not on any journal, not on any webspace. This is common practice in REAL science, as it allows the world to test a method and assess the evidence across multiple, diverse strategies. Instead, the only document supplied by Stamina Foundation is a US patent application (rejected), with images and data RIPPED OFF a ten year old Ukrainian study only partially related to his method.

3. Vannoni claims that by using a SINGLE, straightforward technique (bathing cells for 8hrs in some acid), it possible to treat an extensive variety of incurable neurological diseases in a matter of days. 

4. To date, there is NO REPORT on any actual improvement provided by the method. No clinical study has been undertaken to monitor the effect of the stem cell injections on children. Vannoni, however, claims his method “has already helped so many”.

Davide Vannoni has no experience in stem cell research whatsoever. For that matter, he has no experience in research and science AT ALL. He is a self-complacent philosophy graduate whose only contribution to the academic world is a book entitled “The psychology of persuasive communication” (http://tecalibri.altervista.org/V/VANNONI-D_psicologia.htm). Is it a strange coincidence that he is now “persuasively communicating” the wonders of his method to desperate families? No it is not. He is a scammer, and he knows it. He lies knowing to be lying. WE NEED TO STOP HIM.

In his home country, Italy, the scientific community has been delegitimised, and Vannoni cannot be stopped. Countless REAL italian and foreign stem cell experts have already spoken up against the scam method (eg. Dr. Cattaneo), and authoritative journals (eg.: NATURE http://www.nature.com/news/stem-cell-fiasco-must-be-stopped-1.14375) have published several articles about the growing preoccupation of the scientific community. Nevertheless, Vannoni disregarded any criticism as “purely political”. 

A selected national committee of Italian experts led by Dr. Cattaneo has recently deemed Vannoni’s scam as “scientifically inconsistent” and highly recommended its immediate stop. The complete lack of interaction between the scientific and public community has however allowed the judiciary power to intervene in a scientific matter. A court of law has recently ruled against the committee, claiming it to be negatively biased (http://www.nature.com/news/italian-court-rules-science-advisers-unlawful-1.14307). What the judges do not understand (and rightly so) is that scientifically, it is IMPOSSIBLE to not express negative views on Vannoni’s method (see above). The ruling meant that Vannoni is still receiving public funding. 

It is time for everyone to step in, VANNONI NEEDS TO BE STOPPED. There is nothing worse than a scam based on the fear of dying children, we cannot allow this man to be in their vicinity any longer.
