TAKE ACTION: DOGS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE FOOD PYRAMID

Hundreds of thousands of dogs are subjected to the brutal practice of torture before being slaughtered for their meat in China. According to Humane Society International in China, up to 10 million dogs are believed to be killed for their meat each year because based on China’s Yulin Summer Solstice Lychee and Dog Meat Festival, eating dog meat brings about good health and good luck.

It is extremely sad to know that the practice of slaughtering dogs still exists in today’s society. An investigation conducted by Humane Society (HSI) investigators gathered video and photographic evidence of the Yulin slaughterhouses. The investigation found that as many as “300 dogs are butchered every day in Yulin for their meat.” The treatment of these innocent animals is incredibly frustrating and unimaginable. Within a recent Humane Society International press video, it shows disturbing evidence of dogs in cages, waiting to be cooked or burned alive for their meat. As the press was recording, the Chinese dog butchers were furiously yelling “what are you doing” and demanded that they “stopped recording”. The dogs that were still alive in cages were only a few feet away from the blood stained cement of the butchered dogs. As one can see, dogs are not dying in a peaceful and humane way, they are being tortured, killed, and then eaten. Their torture consists of being burned, skinned, beaten, shot, and cooked alive. These are only a few of the torture methods being practiced. Dogs are not only bred for the sole purpose of eating them, but also for selling them for profit. Dog meat on the market has gotten so extreme to the point where dogs are stolen from pet owners and sold. Whether the dogs are dead or alive, they are being traded or sold for profit.
