Kim Kardashian made a friend of animal lovers everywhere when she decided to go
fur free earlier this year. That's why it was so upsetting when she chose to ride
an elephant recently.
Please sign the petition to ask Kim Kardashian to apologize for participating in an abusive industry and donate money to an actual elephant sanctuary.The tabloids are calling the place where she rode the elephant a sanctuary, but the truth is that no true elephant sanctuary forces their elephants to give humans rides. That's because its unnatural to them, and getting them to allow human riders requires an abusive method called "the crush" where elephants are beaten into submission.
That means that the elephant Kim is seen riding had to suffer months and maybe years of abuse in order for her and her family to ride it. As someone who is starting to advocate for animals, it's not a good look. Not to mention, elephants are so extremely close to going extinct. For us to captivate and torture the few remaining elephants in existence for our pleasure is truly a disgusting act of human selfishness.
Last but not least, Kim and her sisters brought their kids. Which means they are sending the message to kids that animals are for human amusement, not sentient beings with their own desires.
Sign the petition to ask Kim to do better! Best case scenario is she didn't know about "the crush" and once she learns, she'll apologize and donate.
