As a tenant with many pets (dog, lizards, rodents and fish) when moving homes I have realised that so many people don't allow pets weather it be a dog or even a small fish tank. I find this especially irritating when the homes in question have lots of available space in both the house and garden when many of us with pets usually end up in small homes with small gardens as they're the only places available. I understand that in some circumstances it may be necessary due to having a small property or even shared however that doesn't edcuse all other houses.
It is a proven fact that owning an animal, small or large can increase confidence levels and lower the chance of stress, why are we not taking advantage of this? Instead those of us with pets struggle to find housing and/or are usually made to give up our animals which personally for myself is absolutely not a choice!! I feel it should be required that landlords at the very least be open to some form of negotiation such as payment for any possible damage etc. I'm sure there's things many people could think of but these are my thoughts, hopefully people may possibly agree.
