There is no limit on how long lobsters can be kept in these horrific conditions. The animals aren't fed, and often, their claws are tied together so that they won't fight each other in the tanks or harm the humans who are getting them out. Can you imagine being locked in a tiny water box all day, wearing the equivalent of handcuffs?
To make matters worse, research shows that even when "conditions are improved" in these tanks, the crustaceans still suffer. It turns out, keeping an animal locked in a tiny water tank for days or weeks on end is simply inhumane regardless of how much you attempt to "reform" the practice.
