A tiger belongs in its natural habitat and not in the entertainment field. There is nothing natural about that and is actually harmful and stressful for the animal. The university has had several tigers in past years as their school mascot and it has been brought to light that the current animal names Mike VI is suffering from terminal cancer. The concern is that a live, caged tiger like Mike VI has nothing to do with school football yet the animal is brought out onto the field during a game with players and screaming crowds in the stands. This is their sixth tiger and such engagement of the animal causes undue to turmoil and stress for this being that normal would avoid humans at all costs. Tigers used for entertainment purposes are kept in small cages in confinement that affects their behavior and well-being.
The effort in this petition is to urge officials at LSU to stop using live tigers for their mascot, causing these animals extreme despondent behaviors. Why not consider live, willing humans to be in costume and entertain rather than exploit an animal that is physically and emotionally affected long-term by such activities. The exploitation of these animals is so unnatural and causes them extreme undue stress. Stop uses these animals in such an unnatural manner and consider the use of live, willing humans to be in costume and entertain rather than exploit an animal that is physically and emotionally affected long-term by such activities.
