Help stop domestic violence in Lebanon

Whereas, every human being has the right to life, liberty and security,

Whereas, women's rights are an integral part of human rights,

Whereas, domestic violence is the most common form of violence,

Whereas, domestic violence is almost always shielded by the boundaries of privacy and family secrecy,

Whereas, domestic violence can affect any woman regardless of her religion, race and socio-economic status,

Whereas, it is time to move forward in the fight against domestic violence to find a serious solution to this social problem,

For all these reasons, we, the undersigned, call on the Lebanese Government and on the Lebanese parliament to pass the bill that protects women from family violence.
