When we reach our goal this petition will be handed over to the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.
Animal overpopulation in Romania started with Nicolae Ceausescu's dictatorship. The poverty generated by this regime, forced thousand of pet owners to abandon their companions. Thus, the abondoned dogs bred freely on the streets. Today Romania has long had a probelm with stray dogs, with an estimated 30,000 of them in capital alone. In April 2001 government announced that, from now on,they will no longer use "euthanasia" procedure but "liquidation". This annoucement unleashed a seroius of violent acts againt animasls all over the country.
Few days ago romanian parliament decide that every stray dog can be killed ; simply chose mass morder over education and proper medical vet-care. More schocking is that this country have already spent 30 mln Euro (!) to support new law. How come???
PLEASE,help me STOP slaughter of stray dog in Romania!!!
