This woman was killed on camera during a Zoom call...by her toddler who had found a loaded gun

A Zoom room turned into a tragic crime scene recently when a Florida woman was disturbingly murdered on camera -- her own toddler shot her in the head after finding a loaded, unsecured gun in their home.

Sign the petition and demand that Florida lawmakers turn this heartbreaking accident into a catalyst for change and pass stronger gun laws, including mandatory gun safety training for all handgun purchases!

Shamaya Lynn was on a virtual work call when fellow participants saw one of her children, a toddler, appear behind her on screen. Then they heard a noise, and Shamaya fell away. They called to her, but she stopped responding. They called 911, but by the time paramedics arrived it was too late -- Shamaya was dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

A woman lost her life, and two children lost their mother. The poor toddler involved is undoubtedly permanently traumatized. And it all may have been avoided if Florida law treated guns as deadly weapons instead of like any other flippant purchase. In the state, there are no requirements in order to buy a handgun like the one that killed Shamaya -- no permit need be acquired, nor a license. Gun owners don't even need to register their firearm. Worse yet, gun owners aren't required to take any safety training before they purchase one of these highly deadly weapons.

That is a recipe for a disaster. The United States' fixation on protecting the right to bear arms with barely any safety measures or regulations built into the law has been killing people -- and will continue to do so. We need a change.

Only 7 states out of 50 require training for purchase or possession of a firearm. Tell Florida to learn from this tragedy, and become number 8. Sign the petition and demand that lawmakers in the state make safety training mandatory for all gun owners and purchasers!
