According to Tuesday's Associated Press, on March 25, the pit bull who was involved in
an attack on a young boy in Phoenix, Ariz., in February, will be spared death.
Today, Municipal Court Judge Deborah Griffin decided to spare the life of the five-year-old dog, named "Mickey."
The judge set forth stipulations with her ruling, including requirements to have
the dog defanged, neutered and microchipped, and he may not be adopted out
or be placed into foster care.
Last month, Mickey bit a four-year-old child in the face after the boy wandered into Mickey's yard and tried to take
a bone from him. The boy suffered serious wounds to his face, including a fractured eye socket and jaw.
Mickey had thousands of supporters who cited a lack of supervision for the child
as the true crux of the sad situation.
The attorney who fought for Mickey's life will have five weeks to find a suitable facility to take the dog in.
