We, the people of the United States, petition the United States government to pass a law that will require all car makers to install a Child Sensor Alert Device in all newly manufactured vehicles.
Each year approximately 40 precious children die of hyperthermia (heat stroke) after being left unattended in cars. Over 50% of these die after a parent or guardian drives to their destination and forgets the child is in the car with them, leaving them behind to endure a death no child should endure.
Technology currently exists that could save the lives of hundreds of children, and yet the auto industry will not utilize it. These Child Sensor Alert Systems would signal an alarm if the driver walks away from the vehicle while a child remains inside. Cars have signals if your lights remain on after turning the car off. Are car makers saying that the life of a car battery is more important than the life of your child?
Petition legislators to support a bill which would require the mandatory installation of child sensor alert technology in all new cars. Don't let them be forgotten.

Technology exists that would sense the child left behind in the car and set off an alert either on the drivers keychain or via a car alarm, or both.
Car makers are currently unwilling to take the necessary steps to utilize this technology, technology that could save the lives of hundreds of children. This should be unacceptable.
We demand that a Federal law be passed requiring car makers to install child sensor alert devices in all newly manufactured vehicles.
No more children need to die in this tragic manner.
