Enact pet protection in domestic violence cases, Texas

Did you know that 71% of battered women report that their pet was threatened, abused or killed by the partner?  Often women will stay in an abusive relationship out of fear for their pet's safety. Many domestic violence shelters cannot take on animals.  I am working to allow more options to battered women and their companion animals. Texas has considered enacting pet legislation in domestic violence cases but so far has not done so.  I would like to see legislation passed that would allow judges to include pets on protection orders in domestic violence cases.  Please help me support the women and animals in need by signing this petition
