With Brexit talks in full swing and so much at stake, the UK faces serious questions about where we are headed and what kind of country we want to be.
But for us at CARE, one thing is clear: the UK is a place of generosity and compassion.
Our work with refugees has shown time and again that people in the UK believe in dignity, care and protection for the most vulnerable. And that they're not afraid to stand up for what is right.
But right now, the situation for refugees is worsening. Around the world, 34,000 women, men and children are displaced by terror and persecution every day. That means every minute over 20 people are forced to flee their homes and leave everything behind.
So, while politicians haggle over our future, now is the time to prove to ourselves and show the world that we are a tolerant, inclusive country that will protect those fleeing war and terror. That we'll fight for their rights, and do our fair share to help.
