This year, I will be travelling to the Philippines. Whilst searching for attractions on Trip Adviser, I was appalled to see "attractions", housing animals in the most horrific conditions. The loneliness of the animals, the cramped and unclean conditions, the lack of stimulation, no food or water, a mesh floor or concrete to lay on, being harassed by people and forced to endure a life I can only imagine is hell. Please research the zoos and animal experience opportunities in Asia and see for yourself, the conditions these animals face. Here are THREE examples in the Philippines, which I urge you all to see: MALABON ZOO, LOBOC WILDLIFE & NATURE PARK, XZOOTIC ANIMAL PARK.
It is my wish, to advocate for these animals and urge people to speak out against these practices. To ensure these animals have a voice and a chance of a better life. Monkeys with no where to climb, nothing to play with and no one to huddle with. Birds who will never know what it's like to fly, the most natural thing in the world. To a lion cub, chained to the floor and being held by loud and excited strangers. I can not believe that humans can allow this to happen. These animals are completely innocent, but have been forced to endure a life of imprisonment and suffering. That needs to end now! The animals are suffering beyond all imagining, constantly stressed and self harming to cope. Malnourished and illtreated, due to their dietary needs not being met and muscle wastage due to not having adequate room to move around. Some of these practices could have links to the illegal wildlife trade and encourage more animals to be taken from the wild and subjected to misery. They are abused by their handlers, whenever they show any sign of aggression or "spirit". They are often separated from other animals to make them lonely and depressed, therefore easier to handle. This can not be allowed to continue. These animals have absolutely no joy, to wake up to!
But this is not only happening in the Philippines! It is happening all over Asia, especially in Thailand. There are hundreds of animals suffering in environments like this. With big cats being declawed, having teeth removed and being drugged for selfies with tourists. Elephants chained to walls, bears and monkeys forced to dance and live animals being fed to other animals for entertainment.
Please sign and share this petition, to get these animals to a sanctuary. Where they can have more space to roam, have enrichment and a natural environment, company with their own species and handlers who will look after them. Please urge Trip Advisor to LABEL these businesses as ANIMAL ABUSERS and warn tourists away. I think it is also important that they report these businesses as well.
