In The Next Decade, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg Will Become the World's First Trillionaires While Many Struggle For Basic Needs Like Food and Shelter

For many, it feels as though life is more expensive than it's ever been. We've been experiencing an onslaught of inflation's effects, from groceries to housing to energy prices, and it seems like there's no end in sight. And yet, the extremely rich continue to get richer.

Wealth inequality in the United States is completely out of control. The disparity is larger than almost any other developed country in the world. In 2021, while the top 1% of households held nearly 31% of all wealth, the bottom 50% of households held just 2.6%. And experts tell us that it's getting worse, so those numbers have likely become even more extreme.

But now, according to a new report from Oxfam, we are approaching a new dystopian milestone: within the next decade, five people are expected to become literal trillionaires.

And four of them are in the United States. Sign the petition and tell Congress: make the ultra-wealthy finally pay their fair share in taxes!

That's right: Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Larry Ellison are all projected to pass out of the billions and into trillions of dollars in net worth.

To put that kind of wealth into perspective, Oxfam also reported that "even if they lost 99 percent of their wealth overnight, they would remain billionaires."

This is an unthinkable amount of money that carries immense shame when you consider how many people are hungry, homeless, and in need of basic necessities in the United States.

Here's another gut wrenching metaphor to put a trillion dollars into perspective: 1 million seconds is about 11 days. 1 billion seconds is about 31 years. 1 trillion seconds is over 31,688 years.

No one person needs that kind of money to live. But as we've recently seen, these ultra-wealthy men are not gaining money just so they can own expensive things and take luxurious trips -- what they're after is power.

With this wealth, they are gaining more control over industries, politics, and the flow of information. Their power reaches into every corner of our lives -- from the information we consume on social media to the way businesses operate and, alarmingly, how political decisions are made. All four of these American billionaires soon to be trillionaires have been openly warming up to Donald Trump; make no mistake, it is not for the good of progress or democracy, but for their own selfish whims.

For too long, the wealthy have lobbied for and won the right to pay disproportionately low taxes on their hoards of cash and assets -- but with four trillionaires on America's horizon, we simply cannot afford these tax breaks for people who don't need them.

If billionaires want to be so involved in running the United States, let them start by finally contributing to the economy. Sign the petition demanding that Congress pass a tax bill that would raise taxes for the astronomically rich!
