We the residents of DN 50.2 request the School Board and Division Superintendent to support us and our kids to get the Safety, Stability and Fairness that they deserve.
We ask you NOT to adopt plan 7 for the following reasons:
1. Proximity - Cedar Lane is 4 miles from our community. This is even farther away from our current school Moorefield Station. We would be passing four schools to get to Cedar Lane.
2. Safety - The increase in bus travel time makes us really concerned about the safety of our kids. Who would want there kids to travel more than 30 minutes to reach school everyday and not to mention cross major roads?
3. Futuristic Approach - By asking you to Not adopt plan 7, we are also ensuring that our kids stay in one stabilized cluster. We as any other parent or teacher would, including the esteemed board members, plan long term for the children. In this regard we have also proposed plan 8.1 which provides the math and reasoning behind DN 50.2's choice of elementary school. Our plan also emphasis that moving us to Cedar Lane is not the only option to the overcrowding issue that has been pointed by a few board members.
4. Financial Loss - If we knew that buying houses in a new community in Loudoun County entailed being tossed around to different school which may be as far as Cedar Lane, we would have all reconsidered our decisions. We pay taxes just like everyone else in the county and deserve to be treated fairly. Our kids are entitled to as much continuity as anyone else in the county.
A lot of the kids in our community have already been to two or three schools in the short term they have been here so we hope you would hear their requests and give them a stable and bright future.
