There is a concern in the UK regarding some cosmetic companies continuing to use animals for their research and testing. PETA suspects that there is a possibility that nine major cosmetic companies may be in violation of UK laws by selling cosmetic products that have been tested on animals in China. There has been a request into a full investigation by government officials to determine if there are any real violations against any or all of the cosmetic companies in question. The concern is that any or all of them may be breaking the Cosmetic Products Enforcement Regulations set forth in 2013. These regulations clearly state that the use of animals is strictly banned when testing any ingredients in cosmetic products that are created for marketing. In the past, such testing was performed on mice, rabbits and other animals which was harmful and abusive to these creatures.
Caring consumers indeed need to know that they can trust in the methods of testing the products, assured that no animals are used or harmed in the process. Our efforts in this petition is to ask for a thorough investigation into the production of all cosmetics by all the major companies and ensure that none are in violation of the Cosmetic Products Enforcement Regulations. Any company in violation needs to be fully held accountable because a ban on the use of animals for cosmetic testing needs to be fully followed and enforced. UK Attorney General Jeremy Wright – There is supposed to be a full ban on the use of animals for cosmetic testing but there is some concern that one or more of the nine major cosmetic companies could be in violation of this practice. Along with this ban, it is important that the law is fully enforced. Please implement a full investigation into all of these nine cosmetic companies as stated in the attached article to ensure all are full abiding to the rules in the Cosmetic Products Enforcement Regulations of 2013. Hold any violating company accountability and ensure that no one is abusing animals in any manner by testing ingredients in cosmetic products.
