Kaydon's Life Mattered

Kaydon Delroy Sillitoe was run over and killed March 20th 2016 the day after his 8th birthday while playing on his new skateboard. Kaydon was in front of his house when a woman named Tabatha Magoon recklessly or intentionally drove her 3000 pound car straight at him and violently killed him. Tabatha Magoon admitted to using methamphetamines the night before and we believe she also had several prescription drugs in her system (including various opiates and amphetamines) when she killed little Kaydon.

The prosecutor in this case is Ryan Peters, a Utah Deputy County Attorney, and while we’re sure he is a nice man and good attorney, in a meeting with Kaydon’s father he continued to discuss the possibility of a plea agreement prior to even receiving the toxicology reports back on Defendant Tabatha Magoon. The family is aware that the Utah County Attorney, Jeff Buhman, has denied his office has discussed a plea deal. However, we remain concerned that since Prosecutor Peters was so willing to bring it up in the initial conversation with the parents that it is very likely the attorneys for both the state and the defense have already been in discussions and that this is a real possibility. Please keep in mind as well that the legislature has passed new sentencing laws in the last two years making it very likely that Magoon will only spend approximatly 8 months in the county jail, at which time, the court will order her to treatment. The family would be more willing to agree to some resolution short of a full conviction and a maximum sentence, but from the beginning of this incident neither Magoon nor her family have shown any remorse for taking the life of a child while under the influence of drugs. In fact, one of them even took to social media to harass Kaydon’s grandmother. At this time, we are asking you to sign this petition holding Utah County Attorney Buhman and his deputy attorney accountable in this case and ensure Magoon serves time in prison for her crime that was nothing short of murder. We need help to send a loud message to Mr. Buhman reminding him that he is an elected leader and answers to the people and to let him know that Kaydon's Life Mattered. Kaydon was a smart intelligent ambitious little boy who had goals and dreams and that was all taken from him because of Magoon's choices – and Kaydon’s family should not have to pay for her bad choices by being victimized even more by the Prosecutor and the Court system through some plea deal where the perpetrator is let go with no real accountability.

Please sign this Petition that represents your voice in saying “NO PLEA BARGAIN” – she should either plead guilty as charged or the case should go to a jury and the people of Utah County can decide her fate and Kaydon’s family will be grateful and satisfied no matter what the jury decides, at least Kaydon will have had his day in Court!
