Big box retailer Target has elected to pull a slew of LGBTQ+ friendly pride products after being inundated with threats and complaints from rabid right-wing homophobes accusing them of sexualizing children by simply allowing people to celebrate being queer.
This is a shameful show of cowardice from a major corporation that likes to style itself as an ally of the LGBTQ+ community — and make money off of them. It's time for Target to prove that all their flowery rhetoric is for real and not just a stunt to make money that they'll abandon the second it's not convenient for them.
Tell Target to restore their Pride product displays!
"The goal is to make "pride" toxic for brands. If they decide to shove this garbage in our face, they should know that they'll pay a price" wrote self-described Christian fascist Matt Walsh on Twitter as he called for a boycott — and Target is letting the terrorists win by giving in to this kind of pressure from some of the worst people in America.
If Target wants people to know that the Pride merch was an actual expression of the company's values and not just a cynical cash grab, they'll ignore the complaints of extremely online bigots and put the Pride clothing back up for sale.
