It is critically important that all children within Dallas ISD have access to great public schools, led by high quality principals with an effective teacher in each and every classroom. These goals are being hindered by current leadership. A more positive, creative atmosphere for work and study must be restored within DISD.
Although, Mr. Miles has been in Dallas just over a year, there have been questions about the legality of his actions to such an extent that a $100,000 investigation was required. In addition to the questions being raised by this investigation into his ethics and character, Miles has insulted, threatened, or otherwise driven off, not only staff who was trying to work closely with him (i.e. people whom he personally hired) but also hundreds of talented teachers and principals as well. Hundreds of Dallas ISD professionals have simply left our school district, seeking a more positive school environment.
We fear more teachers will be leaving. We fear students may follow, as they did by the hundreds in Colorado. We ask that either he resign to reunite with his family in Colorado, or that the DISD Board take actions to demand his resignation.
