We, the undersigned, ask that the Department of Justice prosecute Monsanto for crimes against all life and nature. It is deeply disturbing that former Monsanto executives have been placed in top US government posts in the USDA and FDA and the main reason Monsanto has been allowed to dominate so much of US agriculture. In 2006, U.S. GMO crops reached just shy of 135 million acres, with the total global area exceeding 230 million acres!
This is a short list of the genetically modified food crops that are grown in the US today:
- Sugar cane
- Sweet peppers
- Tomatoes
- Bananas
- Strawberries
- Soy bean
- Corn
- Potatoes
- Pineapples
- Cocoa beans
- Yellow squash
- Zucchini
And each week more are being created at an alarming rate!
80-95% of corn, canola, soybean, and sugar beets in the US are genetically manipulated or modified.
Genetically-modified (GM) plants have escaped the confines of agriculture and are invading the wild in Canada and now also in the US. Some of the plants had a mix of modified genes, indicating that they are reproducing on their own. Once a GM crop is released it cannot be unreleased, and there are no systems in place to prevent genetic contamination through pollen flow, spills or human error. Although the GM plants found by the roadside are assumed to be the result of escaped seeds during transportation, the GM plants found away from roads show that the plants are taking on a life of their own and are a threat to genetic biodiversity.
GMOs are wreaking havoc on the earth--Monsanto must be brought to justice for its crimes against nature, the ecosystem, and the food supply (lab tests show the toxic effects of GMO diets on rats--see: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ronnie-cummins/generation-monsanto-gm_b_619561.html) and for their "legal" attacks against farmers who unknowingly "plant" genetically modified seeds that have drifted into their fields.
Monsanto is causing irreparable damage to the environment, poisoning our food supply and forcing all humans to be experimental test subjects in its bid for world food control.
Please take action and prosecute Monsanto for their corporate crimes and hubris.
