Tell Your Senators: Fight Illegal Wildlife Trafficking
Wildlife trafficking threatens the survival of elephants, rhinos, lions and other majestic African species. This industry doesn't just threaten iconic species – it has also been linked to other transnational organized criminal activities, including trafficking in narcotics, weapons, and humans.
Fortunately, new legislation introduced in the U.S. Senate could cripple this multi-billion dollar industry. In December 2015, Senators Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) introduced a bipartisan bill called the END Wildlife Trafficking Act to develop country-specific strategies to combat poaching and trafficking.
But we need your help to get this legislation passed right away to help stop this violent and brutal industry.
Tell your U.S. Senators to support the END Wildlife Trafficking Act to protect Africa's iconic species from the illegal wildlife trade.
Subject: We need to fight wildlife trafficking together
Dear Senator,
I'm writing to urge you to support the Eliminate, Neutralize, and Disrupt (END) Wildlife Trafficking Act, a bipartisan bill recently introduced by Senators Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.). This legislation will authorize the U.S. government to work with countries affected by wildlife trafficking in order to develop anti-poaching strategies and curb demand for illegal wildlife products.
Wildlife trafficking is a lucrative criminal activity with an estimated value of $8 to $10 billion annually. The END Wildlife Trafficking Act recognizes that this industry doesn’t just threaten Africa’s most iconic species – it has also been linked to other transnational organized criminal activities, including trafficking in narcotics, weapons and humans.
[Your Comment]
Please act now to protect Africa's wildlife and fight this horrific and violent industry. Pledge your support for the END Wildlife Trafficking Act when it comes up for a vote in the Senate.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
