Had enough of high gas prices? Americans are struggling to pay the ever-rising prices at the pump, while ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco, ConocoPhillips, BP and Shell are reaping record profits.
And sadly, Republican leadership remains completely out of touch. Senate Minority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell has taken over $580,000 from the oil and gas industry, despite skyrocketing gas prices across the U.S. and throughout his home state of Kentucky.
Americans need to be represented by leaders who care about them and their families, not just about Big Oil and their corporate lobbyists. If you've had enough of high gas prices, it's time to take action and tell Mitch McConnell and his GOP colleagues to listen to the families they represent.
Tell Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and GOP colleagues to remember that they don't work for Big Oil, and to stop blocking the Consumer-First Energy Act now.
Dear Senator McConnell:
Gas prices are soaring with no end in sight. It's time for Big Oil to pay its fair share so Americans can see a little relief.
Since President Bush came to office, gas prices have more than doubled, the Big Oil companies have made more than half a trillion dollars in profits and the United States is even more dependent on oil. Democrats are providing solutions that address the root causes of high gas prices, hold the Big Oil companies accountable and put consumers first.
Start listening to voters, not Big Oil and their corporate lobbyists. I urge you to stop blocking the Consumer-First Energy Act. You should encourage your GOP colleagues to do the same.
