When Rob Wilson happened to see someone mistreating a dog, he did what anyone of us would do — he stepped in and tried to help. But his heroism was met with a bullet that ended his life. Wilson, 37, noticed a man holding a young Yorkshire Terrier puppy by the throat. He called his fiancée, Sue Hoskins, to let her know he was going to confront the animal abuser. Hoskins said she dropped her phone to see her partner speaker to the abuser.
The abuser then told him that it was his puppy, pulled out a gun, and shot Rob in the chest. His killer, 35-year-old Donavous Jerome Drennon has been arrested and faces first-degree murder charges.
After Rob's murder,
his family tried to adopt the dog that he saved. They wanted to make sure the dog would never be mistreated again. But instead of handing it over to a loving home,
Rutherford County PAWS — the animal welfare organization that took custody of the puppy after the incident — returned it back to the killer's family. This is unconscionable. Rob's last act in life was saving that puppy from abuse, and the authorities degrade his good deed by putting it back in harm's way.
Please sign the petition and tell Rutherford County PAWS and Smyrna Police to demand that the killer's family hand over the puppy to the Wilson family so it is guaranteed a life free from abuse and full of love.
