Protect Our Ocean from Dirty, Dangerous Oil Spills

Oil spills are catastrophic. From injuring and killing wildlife to contaminating subsistence food sources to wreaking havoc on commercial fisheries, tourism and other ocean-based economic sectors, oil spills are a significant threat to our ocean and coasts.

Oil spills are not a concern of the past—the threats to marine ecosystems, coastal resources and front-line communities are looming and ongoing. More than 12 years later, we are still living with the impacts from the Deepwater Horizon explosion, which killed 11 people and discharged more than 200 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico over 87 days.

Today, we need your help to ensure that—in the unfortunate event of an oil spill in the future—the United States has the resources and funding needed to address the spill immediately.

Sen. Markey's (D-MA) recently introduced Oil Spill Response Review Act would improve the United States Coast Guard's ability to respond to oil spills and ensure we protect communities and the marine resources on which they depend.

Act now: tell Congress to support the Oil Spill Response Review Act and protect our ocean from future harm.
