Don't Kill Sea Lions

Sea lion predation accounts for only 2.4% of the salmon run in the Columbia River - but that hasn't stopped the federal government from zeroing in on the marine mammal in an effort to protect endangered salmon.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) granted Washington and Oregon permission to kill 85 sea lions that travel up the river to eat endangered salmon.

Euthanizing sea lions to protect the salmon population is not only inhumane, it's also ineffective. Call on the NOAA to reverse its decision to kill sea lions.
Dear Dr. Lubchenco,

I am writing to respectfully ask that you reverse the NOAA's decision to allow for the killing of sea lions that prey on salmon in the Columbia River.

Sea lion predation accounts for only 2.4% of the salmon run in the Columbia River. I urge you to work on more important factors in recovering the salmon population.

Sincerely,
