Join the fight: Demand your members of Congress become dream heroes!
On December 7, the House and Senate passed a "continuing resolution" (CR) to keep the government open for just two weeks. The Senate passed the CR with a vote of 81-14. Let's be clear: this was a vote to deport Dreamers.
Indivisibles have called on Democrats to take a Dreamer Pledge, and vote against any CR that doesn't protect Dreamers because Republicans need Democrats to vote for the CR in order for it to pass . Only 8 held their ground. Will you add your name and pressure other senators so we have a victory in two weeks?
Senators Kamala Harris (CA), Elizabeth Warren (MA), Ed Markey (MA), Bernie Sanders (VT), Kirsten Gillibrand (NY), Mazie Hirono (HI), Jeff Merkley (OR), and Cory Booker (NJ) voted to protect Dreamers, but they can't be alone next time.
Here's why it's so crucial Democrats take the Dreamer Pledge: On September 5, Trump announced that he was terminating the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The Obama-era program provides relief from deportation for an estimated 800,000 young immigrants.
Dreamers have gone to our schools, they live and work in our communities, they have families, and now they're at risk of deportation. Congress must act immediately to protect Dreamers by passing a clean Dream Act now, and the CR is the best vehicle for this.
If Democrats demand it, passing a Clean Dream Act is possible, which would provide Dreamers with permanent protections and peace of mind.
Join the Indivisible movement. Urge members of Congress to take the Dreamer Pledge and commit to only vote on a CR that has the Dream Act attached.
