Every two seconds, every single day, all year long, a person is forced to flee their home.

At the Danish Refugee Council, our mission is to assist refugees and displaced people in 40 countries across the globe.

We have witnessed first-hand families who have been forced to flee their homes through war, civil unrest and famine. Sadly, more than half of these are children.

Children like 14-year old Yara, from Syria who is being deprived of her childhood and traumatized by the horrors of war.

She saw her neighbours' house destroyed by bombs. She says:

"Once, you've experienced war, you think that you will die any moment."

This is an outrage. No child should have to feel that.
