Urgent call for action: DNB Bank Norway sold assets but that's NOT ENOUGH. We need them to pull ALL loan commitments to finance DAPL. With ACOE requesting an EIS from DAPL, they are still constructing the pipeline.
With rapid population growth and climate change, comes water scarcity.
The latest studies by NASA last year (2015) show that we only have about 4% clean drinking water left on our planet. “The situation is quite critical,” said Jay Famiglietti, the senior water scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California.
We are very concerned about the ongoing construction of Energy Partners' 1,172-mile pipeline in North Dakota, called the Dakota Access and Bakkan Pipeline. Since water is so precious, we have a heightened sense of urgency in keeping our water and aquifers clean.
If this pipeline leaks, it could pollute waters that have served the tribes in this area since the Ice Age. This water also serves 17 million people downstream.
Stopping the finance and/or lines of credit to this Pipeline would help reduce environmental risks. Sunoco Logistics has a history of onshore pipeline leaks, at least 203 times over the last six years. Its units leaked a total of 3,406 net barrels of crude over the last six years.
As of today, an Environmental Impact Statement for the pipeline has not been done, and the tribes were not notified or consulted until 48 hours before construction started.
A Sierra Club attorney named Hayes is litigating against the use of eminent domain to seize property from landowners along the pipeline’s route in Iowa.
But what is really disturbing is the use of militarized police in dealing with unarmed water protectors. These are not just indigenous people. We have many different races protecting the water on the frontlines and their lives are in danger.
Private security hired by DAPL, police from out of state, and the Morton County Sheriff's Department have all disregarded their oath to protect and serve the people. Constitutional and human rights are being violated, and we should all be outraged.
Please refer to the links below for articles, videos, etc.
The DAPL website states that it will only provide 40 permanent operating jobs. Is it worth it?
Please help us by financing and giving lines of credit to clean energy companies instead of oil pipelines.
Dear Harald Serck-Hanssen,

Tusen takk
