Tell Senate Democrats to Stop Letting Republicans Block Judges through Blue Slips

Nominations for federal judges require Senate approval, and with Democrats in control of the Senate, Republicans should be powerless to stop them.

But an old and very stupid practice known as "blue slips" allows senators to block confirmation of senators from their home state. So one senator can block the whole thing.

It's hard to stress just how asinine this is, and it's hard to believe that Democrats are STILL letting Republicans do it, when they can get rid of the practice at any time. The Congressional Black Caucus is calling on Senate Democratic leaders to end this, and we couldn't agree more.

Senate norms and traditions that were once quaint have been weaponized by extremist Republicans. And it's time to get rid of them.
