We demand the removal and/or covering of an offensive mural located in the lobby of the Merchandise Mart of our ancestors picking cotton on a Mississippi plantation!

There has been a growing concern amongst a number of individuals who work in the Merchandise Mart located here in Chicago. Concerns have grown about a mural that displays black post slavery ancestors picking Cotton on a Mississippi plantation. We feel that this mural is very offensive, and does not represent a part of history that we are proud of. It displays oppression, depression, captivity and miss treatment of our ancestors. Please sign this petition in efforts to have the mural removed or covered. Please share with family and friends.
