Return King Richard III to Yorkshire

In 1485, King Richard III was killed at the Battle of Bosworth. His body was slung over a horse with his hands and feet tied where he was dumped in Leicester for two days before he was buried.

In 2012, his remains were discovered revealing the villainy of Henry Tudor.  For over 558 years, King Richard III’s name and reputation has been vilified by the Tudor myth, and it is time, this much maligned king receive the justice he has been denied since 1485.

We have the opportunity to right the wrongs done to him.  The Richard III Foundation, Inc., in it second petition, asks that we cast aside our visions of grandeur of economic gains viewing him as a gain of commodity.  Let us remember he was a human being, and let us search our hearts and conscience and treat him with the respect and final wishes that we ourselves would wish for.

He was known to have a special affection for the City of York, and lived 12 years of his life in North Yorkshire. York referred to him as their “special good lord”.  Let us all work together and do what is right by him. Bring him back to Yorkshire for his remains to be reinterred and let him rest in peace.

Andy Smith, the Foundation’s UK Public Relations Director, added: “York was Richard’s city. It is where he belongs, and it is only right that this great Lord of the North should return home to Yorkshire after more than five hundred years’ enforced absence. The Richard III Foundation urges the people of Yorkshire to join with us in calling for Richard to be brought home to the city that he loved, and where he is still loved to this day.”
