Government of Spain: stop considering bullfighting as Cultural Heritage
Last month the Spanish Constitutional Court revoked Catalonia's six-year-old ban on bullfighting. The reason? The Spanish Government legally declared bullfighting to be “Cultural Heritage.” That designation strips regional governments of the power to ban the practice as it’s out of their jurisdiction.
Regions and cities should be able to decide for themselves whether they want to get rid of bullfighting or not. Join me to demand that the central Government remove the "Cultural Heritage" designation from bullfighting and give autonomous region the freedom to decide the future of bullfighting in their communities.
Together we can end the cruel tradition of bullfighting across Spain. Let’s take this first step to protect our wins. Ask the Spanish Government to revoke bullfighting's designation as "Cultural Heritage" and to let Catalonia's bullfighting ban stand.
Please, stop considering bullfighting as "Patrimonio Cultural" (Cultural Heritage).
