In the U.S., there are more than 500 million acres of public lands. Wildlife like wolves, coyotes, foxes, mountain lions, bobcats, prairie dogs, and more roam these lands and turn them into a home. It should be an idyllic place.
But right now, it's still legal for people to organize contests in which the point is to kill as many animals as possible, all for a cash prize. And after the competitions? Usually people just take a lot of photos, have a lot of laughs - and dump the corpses on their way home.
Sign the petition to end this cruelty now!In some states, animals get lucky: 10 different states have passed their own laws protecting wildlife from these competitions, as long as the animals stay within the state's borders. But in 40 other states, mercilessly hunting and slaughtering these animals is still fair game.
Fortunately, members of Congress have
introduced a new bill, the Prohibit Wildlife Killing Contests Act of 2024, that would ban these wildlife killing contests on all public lands throughout the 50 states.
Prohibiting these "kill contests" is important not only to protect innocent animals from gruesome butchering, but also to defend the environment. Wildlife plays an important part in a healthy ecosystem, where all beings work in natural concert to provide checks and balances to each other.
There is no way to justify allowing such brutal cruelty on U.S. public lands. Congress must pass the Prohibit Wildlife Killing Contests Act of 2024 to end this senseless slaughter now! Sign the petition!
