In Australia, the worlds biggest and most beautiful coral reef is coming to an end. It's our job to save it. This magnificent sight is being disrupted by Global Warming, Fish trawling and Human Interaction. Global Warming has two effects on the reef, Coral bleaching - Coral can only stay in certain tempratures, and with global warming, the temperature is rising, killing of the coral and making it go white. This causes loss of habitiat for fish.
Global warming also kills of some species of fish and makes them float to the surface. When bird of prey see these floating fish, they swoop down and eat them. These fish can be poison to some birds and when the birds eat the fish, the poison god through the birds and eventually kill it.
Fish Trawling catches not only the fish they intend to, but endangered fish and turtles, sharks and porpoises. Once caught they are not realeased again. This is decreasing the population of their species and disrupts the food chain.
When divers and snorkels go along the barrier reef, they and touch all the coral and try to touch fish. This is also causing disruption and is killing coral and harming fish. Please help make a difference by singing this petition.
