Reform Animal welfare Laws to ensure Justice for all Animals!
I live in Adelaide, SA, Australia and there's a man that lives next door to my building who doesn't treat his dog very well. He often has it running behind, next to or in front of his bike and doesn't have a very safe harness on it and the leash is a bit shorter than it needs to be. The poor creature looks scared and seems like it's begging for help from someone. Once, I heard him threatening the dog saying "don't want to have to hit you" - some people shrug this off saying that he was probably only joking.
The dog often has it's ears folded back with it's tail between it's legs and the owner pulls a bit harshly on the leash, and when someone comes up to pet the dog the owner gets mad with them and tells them "you're distracting it" when they say good boy to it when the dog does something right.
However, this isn't about one man or one dog; this is about all animals deserving justice. It's time we change our laws and animal welfare policies so every type of animal gets the justice they deserve. In Australia alone, RSPCA receives over 15,000 complaints related to animal cruelty annually (RSPCA Annual Statistics). This shows how prevalent the issue is.
We need stricter regulations on pet ownership including proper training for owners regarding animal care and welfare. We also need harsher penalties for those who neglect or abuse their pets as a deterrent against such behavior.
By signing this petition you are standing up not just for my neighbor’s dog but also thousands of animals across Adelaide SA suffering silently in homes where they are not treated with respect or kindness they deserve. Let us take action now before another innocent life suffers unnecessarily due to human negligence or cruelty. Please sign this petition today!
