16 year-old Ma'Khia Bryant was shot and killed by police officer Nicholas Reardon in Columbus, Ohio just moments before Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murdering George Floyd. Hazel Bryant, her aunt, as well as her father and grandmother, claim Ma'Khia was the one who called the police. When a group of adult women arrived at her home, there was an altercation; Ma'Khia decided to protect herself with a knife. When officer Reardon arrived, Ma'Khia was fending off a physical attack in front of her house, and was shot 4 times in the chest without any warning. Reardon started shooting seconds after he arrived and got out of his car. Instead of giving consideration to a Taser or simply asking the child to put down the knife, he choose to deliberately shoot a 16 year-old girl in the chest 4 times.
