Rehire Fired Transsexual Teacher Cristina Cracraft!

Cristina Cracraft taught music and choir for years at Gonzales Elementary School in Santa Fe. In all that time, it was never an issue that she identified as a transsexual. It was only when teachers learned of her second career--as a drag performer--that Cracraft was pressured into resigning her teaching position.

Cracraft notes that she has done nothing wrong. Her second career in theater is neither illegal nor immoral. It has no bearing on her ability to teach or interact positively with students.

Tell Gonzales Elementary School that Cracraft should have been afforded the same right to privacy and freedom as other teachers. This is a blatant example of misogyny and transphobia that must not be swept under the carpet.

Urge Gonzales Elementary to rehire Cracraft today.
We the undersigned believe that Cristina Cracraft was wrongly pressured to resign her position as a music and choir teacher at your school. What Cracraft does on her own time--as long as she abides by the law--is not the business of your school or its students or their parents. To dismiss a teacher because of the grumblings of a few intolerant parents is not good education management. Please rehire Cracraft and afford her the same right to privacy that is afforded other teachers at your school.
