Demand the end to horse slaughter

The SAFE Act, Saving America's Forgotten Equines, is a bipartisan bill that has been sponsored every congressional term for more than 10 years. This Bill ends the transport of horses for the purpose of slaughter. Each congressional term, it gets reintroduced in the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee, where it is supported by both parties. This past term, it got marked up out of Subcommittee and was close to passing out of the Full Committee. AVMA, Jockey Club, USTA, and over 200 Veterinarians have submitted their support of the bill. The number of horses shipping for slaughter has dropped more than 70%, to the lowest it has ever been. In 2022, approximately, 19,000 horses shipped across the Mexican and Canadian borders. This is a cruel practice run by killbuyers, who frequently have long criminal records and use intimidation and coercion to hold horses hostage. The solution is to pass this Bill, and allow horses to serve a higher purpose in their lives, such as: therapy horses, mounted police work, veteran support animals, buddy animals to others. Allow burros to do what they do so well, and that is to protect young and vulnerable cattle, sheep, horses, etc. Mini horses are now considered emotional support animals. There are many options for grants, rehoming and euthanasia.
