Tell "60 Minutes" not to cave to Trump's demands for censorship

For more than half a century, "60 Minutes" has taken on some of the most important and groundbreaking news stories, often making history. And it has taken on more than its share of villains in the process.

But it now appears that its journalistic independence is at risk, and that it may be avoiding stories critical of Trump, due to a ludicrous Trump lawsuit, and an impending sale of the parent company -- which must be approved by Trump's FCC. (background)

Bill Owens, the executive producer of 60 Minutes, is now leaving the show in protest:

"Over the past months, it has also become clear that I would not be allowed to run the show as I have always run it. To make independent decisions based on what was right for '60 Minutes,' right for the audience." (NYT)

At a time when we are fighting to save our democracy, we need 60 Minutes to defend the First Amendment, not throw it away out of fear or greed.
